National Cathedral Prayer Service

I watched a beautiful prayer service this morning on Fox; only C-Span and Fox carried it. Beautifully prayed and sung. Worth trying to find a replay on C-Span. I am inspired. All faiths represented on the altar; all prayer inclusive. Barack and Michele, Joe and Jill, Bill and Hillary all sitting together in front row; Cabinet and other government workers filled the place. A holy time.

Home safely...back in Jacksonville

The last message I received from Carolyn around 8 AM Wed. morning is that the group was having breakfast in Springfield and dropping off Ben, the Springfield WICS reporter who has been traveling with them. He has one final interview with them, so watch for it on the website if you live away...WICS.com

They will be back to Jacksonville within the hour. :o)

***Mom called and John and Carolyn are home. Hopefully sleeping and resting those weary bodies.

Joyful, joyful, thankful.

Midnight report from somewhere in Ohio

OK, Carolyn just emailed that she couldn't sleep. Says she got a second wind. Now what do you do on a bus in the middle of the night with a second wind? I am sure she will find something interesting to do with that energy. They are somewhere in Ohio and planning to roll back in to Jacksonville around 10 AM Wednesday morning. I am thinking when she gets home and has a hot bath, she may sleep for 2 days when she gets in her own bed. I don't think there has been much sleeping going on since last Saturday. Well, I can't sleep either; had a great meeting at church tonight, then came home and watched more festivities. I have been video-taping for Carolyn--3 tapes full once I add Oprah's post-inauguration show tomorrow. So while Carolyn's "beat-up" body is recuperating, she can see all the tv coverage of the past few days. If you live away and have not followed the Springfield news coverage of the trip, you can go to the WICS.com web site to see the reporting of the Springfield journalist who accompanied them. I did see one sequence with Carolyn carrying a large bag around her neck.

Sweet dreams.

Heading Home

My last communication today from Carolyn is filled with joyful reflection of what she and her ISD students and fellow staff have experienced in Washington. She sent a copy of an article Sen. Dick Durbin sent that appears in the Chicago Sun Times today about her students. These kids feel empowered, and that is what every good teacher wants for his/her students.

Carolyn is now sleeping on the bus as they head back to Illinois. I hope she can sleep for a good long time. What she has done for these kids and ISD staff is remarkable. I can't say enough about how much I admire my sister Carolyn.

"On the road now searching for a 'real restaurant...'

At about 3PM Marybeth posted this message on twitter:

"On the road now searching for a 'real restaurant.' Kids ate breakfast on bus and snacks packed in pockets. The day was amazing."

Also received a message from Carolyn that they are on the bus and she is helping the driver with the tom tom (electronic map). They lost their paper map earlier today. Hopefully, the tom tom will help get them out of town and on their way.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

One More Message....

From Carolyn's blackberry at 10 AM ET...

"We have a perfect view of the Capitol."
