Blessings are coming Chuck's way. Thanks to everyone who has been praying for him, and please keep it up. Today, a wallet for his important papers. He can't remember the last time he had a wallet. I quite enjoyed watching him empty his pockets and put all his stuff in it. And yesterday he asked for hangers for his clothes. They'd been in plastic bags and boxes since he arrived Aug. 30. He is at church tonight with the men from New Start. One of my bible study lady friends is a member of the church, and when I talked about him this morning at our group, she said she always goes on Wednesdays and gives them lots of TLC and she cooks for them on a regular basis. She is a fine woman, and I am glad to know there is someone else who will be the mother he lost at such a young age. This is rewarding for me. It is in giving that we receive. And many people have been giving to help him. And he has responded very well. God is good.
This weekend, I am going to Kentucky with Uncle Jimmy and Jonny, Uncle Bill and my cousin Sam Haycraft. I am sure I will laugh a lot on this trip. I will be glad to show cousin Sam that I have finally gone digital with my camera. And of course, seeing the Kentucky cousins will be great.
Next weekend, Chris and his family will be in St. Louis for a long weekend. Chris is playing soccer in SIUE's Alumni game, so we will get to watch him play again. And of course we are looking forward to seeing Maria and Makenna too. I have some new books for Mak that she will love.
Mario has spent the week float-building with the freshman class. He is the class sponsor, and he seems to enjoy it this year because they have a lot of good workers AND parents who are there with their kids. A little scare with his health...he'd been having pounding headaches and pain in the back of his neck for about a week. So I finally got him to go to the dr. His blood pressure was "sky high"; he wouldn't tell me the numbers. He is now on 40mg. a day of medicine, the first in his life. And next Friday they are doing a brain MRI and a heart test of some kind. Let's hope and pray the blood pressure meds resolve all this. He just called from float duty and said no headache today and he felt good, so I am hoping that will be the end of it. Just take the medicine. His mom had it, and so does Carrie. Heredity?
Blake is closing out the regular season with a game at Gailsburg tomorrow. If they win it, they win the conference. I will stay here with the daycare and grandkids, as that is what helps Carrie the most, and Blake seems to understand.
I am going to catch up on Dancing With the Stars tonight. And Glee. Love the music, even if the story lines are a little out there for me.
Anyone who reads my blog and has not been on a TEC....you can go to greatrivertec.org and get an application to be a candidate or an adult observer on TEC 270, January 15-17. It will be one of the best weekends of your life. :o) And not just because I am directing, with a lot of great help. They are all good.
