I finally got to talk to Carolyn last night about the excellent Eilering weekend. Since I was on the Teens Encounter Christ weekend from Friday night to Monday night, I missed everything. So we had a marathon 2-hour or so conversation last night so I could get all the details. We covered a few additional topics also.
Well I am not surprised that Bailey's weekend highlight was big sister Paige surprising her and showing up at the football game Friday night to celebrate with her. From what I understand, Paige just walked up and stood next to her. The two walked off hand in hand like little girls/best friends, an image that their parents will not soon forget.
Today I picked up Nolan, and we shopped for his birthday present and went to McDonald's for lunch. He was in awe of his present--a very outstanding Fisher Price Shake and Go racetrack and 4 race cars. He had to confirm with me, as he sat in the cart with the box and the cars at Walmart..."Is this for me?" Well I can't wait to see him in action tomorrow when he has his birthday party at Bonkers.
Speaking of Nolan...a couple new stories....
Carrie was correcting him for something he was doing wrong, and he didn't like it. So he told her, "You are not my best friend any more." She told him that she was not supposed to be his best friend, that she is his mom, and he is her son, and she is supposed to teach him what is right and wrong. He looked her square in the eye and said, "Well, I'm not your best son either."
One morning Nolan asked the daycare buddies if they wanted to go outside. Now Nolan seems to rule the daycare, all except one kid who can get the best of him. The rest are afraid of him, so they do what he says. So he unlocked the back patio door and waited for them all to go outside. Then he locked them out and watched them yelp and cry. Got his mom to himself for a minute or two.
Tomorrow I will do my volunteer job in the Tea Room from 12-4 (sit on the stool, run the cash register, be nice to people, and take their money). Then to Nolan's birthday party for awhile. The day ends with a Quincy University Soccer Alumni Reunion picnic. Won't have to cook. :o)
