Today I finally found a new home for our 7 1/2 foot artificial Christmas tree that we bought when we lived in Arizona. It was beautiful for so many years. Part of my Christmas Explosion, and also decorated in Carrie's house for a year or two. But we have both downsized for various reasons, and this beautiful very real-looking tree was stored in the basement in two large garbage bags and a rubbermaid container. Yesterday, I casually mentioned to the lady sitting next to me at our Bible Study fellowship breakfast that I was looking for a new home for a huge tree, and she told me she was looking for a bigger tree to stand in the bay window of their home! Can ya believe it? So her husband came by tonight in his truck, somewhat amused I think at "what you girls get together and decide" or something like that, and he hauled away the tree, the stand, and several strands of lights. I hope they all work. I didn't try them. Should have. Well, anyway, I am very happy with my Charlie Brown tree. I have plenty of space in my living room for a grandchild or two to manuever around. And my good friend Norma and her family will have this beautiful tree in their bay window this year.
The Dedes helped me fill some gift bags for some needy gals. I am trying to teach my grandchildren about how fortunate we all are to have so many blessings while so many have so little. So this year, instead of lots of presents, as a family we are helping others. And I already know what greater blessings will come our way when we have giving hearts.
