Today I finally addressed the overgrown plant that had taken over my living room. As I prepared for where to put the tree and the singing/dancing Santas, etc., I just looked at that plant and said, "Sorry, but you are going to get a haircut!" I don't like doing this to a living thing, but there is now space in the living room for the Christmas Explosion. I have packed up the knick knacks and what nots to be stored in the basement storage room. Tomorrow I will get the Christmas things out of the storeroom, and hopefully a couple of grandkids will come by to haul them all up the stairs. I love decorating for Christmas, and I love the music of Christmas. Today I found Faith Hill's new Christmas CD, very beautiful. I also bought Marie Osmond's and the Elvis duets. All are very good.
We had a wonderful conversation in Bible Study this morning about the verse in Revelation 7 regarding what is commonly called "The Rapture." I had been warned by a Catholic friend that I should not be attending this non-denominational group, because we don't believe what the others believe about "The Rapture." Well, I decided to believe what I read in the Bible. That settles it for me. I love this group of ladies. Next week we have our Christmas party. Lots of good food, some gifts, and always a nice presentation of some kind.
Nolan is learning to sing about Rudolph, and he came up with his own ending....instead of "you'll go down in history" at the end, he sang, "you'll go down and watch TV." Funny how kids hear things.
Our Why Catholic group got together Monday night and divied up the list of desires of two teenagers in a family in our area that has lost most of its income. I am pleased that both Carrie and Chris wanted to be included in helping this family. I am getting the Bath and Body requests for the girl and a gift certificate at a nice restaurant for the parents, who asked that we not get them anything and just provide whatever we could for their kids. I was so happy that our little group of 10 plus Carrie and Chris covered the entire list. Mario is shopping for a Wii game. It was so funny...the older couple in the group thought Wii was somehow World War II--couldn't figure out what it meant on the list. We went to the home of another couple who provided very nice refreshments after our gift-selecting session and some good conversation about what is going on in our lives. I love this time of year.
Last night, the hospital breast cancer support group had a Mexican-themed Christmas party. Carrie and I went. We had steak tacos and listened to Fr. Carlos from QU sing Mexican Christmas songs and tell stories about how Christmas is celebrated where he came from....Guadalajara! Same city Mario was born in. So the two of them have met and enjoyed some good conversation. And now I am 8 for 8 winning door prizes since I joined this group!
It is snowing here again. Keep warm, everyone.
