I went out this morning for a dr. appt., and WOW was it cold. The poor red car--it sits outside--it started, but it moaned and groaned all the way to 24th Street. I hope everyone stays safe, 'cause I think this could get you if you were outside long enough in it.
The Dede girls are coming over in an hour. Blake has back-to-back indoor soccer games, and they'd much rather be here. Maybe Nolan will come too. He likes soccer games, so he might opt to go with Carrie. Tony is back in karate on Thursday nights. I have missed having them here for awhile.
Tomorrow I work my Tea Room job at the hospital. Don't know how many folks will visit the Tea Room in such weather. The weekend is a quiet one. Our "Why Catholic" group is meeting for dinner Saturday night at Maya, our Mexican restaurant. Everyone is invited to bring their spouses/families, so Carrie's gang will come too. It will be a nice way to celebrate my birthday. 58 years young :o) I used Mom's birthday money to buy new Egyptian sateen cotton sheets for the bed. Can't wait to sleep on those. Funny the things one looks forward to at 58.
Carolyn and John will be off to Washington, DC sometime in the next day or two for the inauguration. What an experience they will have. I hope they remember to send me pictures. I will be watching. What a moment in history this is. I remember having conversations with Dad about the blemish on our history that slavery was and the subsequent race problems following. He was certainly a patriotic person, and he had deep regrets about this part of our history. Now I am thinking he would be proud of our country and how far we have come in this area.
Today I had acupuncture treatment for over an hour, the first treatment since November, and it has made me very relaxed and tired. The dr. told me I look depleted. Guess that is a way of saying whooped. Still trying to get my oomph back. I did lose a few pounds, but I am gaining it back. Made myself a big chocolate milkshake for lunch. Now that should help.
Aunt Margie--Kathy says almost all the Christmas decorations have found new homes, and her gals were excited--said there was something for everybody. Now that makes my heart feel good, cause I loved all that old stuff. I did keep a small box for Makenna to have someday, and Carrie already chose a few things for her house. Now I need to go through my purses and shoes :o)
There is a plane down in the Hudson River. Doesn't look promising for the folks inside. Makes any problems we have at the moment very small. Keep warm everyone.
Stephanie--I have not heard from you for quite awhile. Are you still reading the blog? Please send me an update! I think of you often. I hope you are keeping warm too. What we have here is probably the usual for you now in Alaska.
